Silicon Plateau got named so because Bengaluru being located in the Deccan Plateau & Silicon Valley is a part of Santa Clara Valley, located next to Rocky Mountains of North America.
The main factors responsible for location of IT sector are -
- Resources availability.
- Cost ( labour, other inputs,etc)
- Land for building infrastructure
Advantages of Information and Technology -
- Makes life easier. You can uninterruptedly contact anyone, anytime throughout the globe.
- Dispersion of urgent information or announcement is easier.
- Fast & Wide area coverage. That is an epitome for globalisation.
- Provides employment to many graduates. From a survey it is estimated that nearly 94.5% youth are employed in IT sector in Europe followed by around 90.9% in Germany & 90.4% in Netherlands.
- Best way to maintain a work- life balance and grab huge packages.
As everything comes with some flaws. Here are some Disadvantages of IT -
- There’s a huge concern for privacy and security as everything is now an open book.
- Lack of Job security and social skills.
- Huge input expenses.
